The Primary Recovery Plus Program (PR+) available at both our Kansas City PR+ facility and Northland Community Center consists of detoxification and three additional levels of care. Clients are assigned their own primary counselor who will follow their treatment throughout all phases.

Our detoxification units are a social (non-medical) facilities for men and women 18 and older. Admission is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To be admitted, you must be a Missouri resident with a need for detoxification services (determined by a simple assessment). Staff members monitor progress and provide supervision and care during withdrawal from alcohol and drugs.

While in the detoxification unit, clients are kept safe and comfortable while their bodies rid themselves of alcohol and/or drugs. Should physical complications arise, clients are quickly escorted to nearby medical facilities for care.

PR+ consists of three levels:

Level I – Twenty-one-day residential treatment offering 50 hours of weekly therapeutic activities. Level I focuses on drug addiction/abuse and auxiliary services as needed. Before transitioning to Level II, clients and their primary counselor develop a Relapse Prevention Plan.

Level II – Eight-week, less restrictive phase in which clients live and work within the community and attend treatment four times a week (including one individual session) as their schedules permit. Both day and evening groups are provided.

Level III – Twelve-week phase including group sessions three times a week and an individual session once a month.

The length of stay depends on individual needs. A clinical review with the Missouri Department of Mental Health Division of Alcohol and Drugs must be filed if more than three days of care are necessary. All clients are assisted in seeking continued treatment, oriented to Twelve Step meetings, and are encouraged to engage in aftercare programming following treatment. Before leaving the program, at their request, clients may be screened by a Level I counselor.

The counseling staff are either licensed, degreed or Missouri State Certified Substance Abuse Counselors.

Deaf/hearing impaired programs are available.

Northland Community Center receives funding from Clay-Platte-Ray Mental Health Levy Board of Trustees and Clay County Drug Court.
